Samuel Adams Homebrew Competition

This is old news by now, but there’s still enough time to enter. Samuel Adams is holding a homebrew competition. Entries must be received between February 15, 2006 at 9:00 AM and March 15, 2006 at 5:00 PM.

The winners in each of the twenty-three categories gets a Samuel Adams varsity jacket. Nine semi-finalists will receive $2000 travel vouchers to go to the 2006 Great American Beer Festival or the 2006 American Homebrewers Association National Homebrewers Conference. The Grand Champion will win a trip to Boston to brew the winning beer. If the winning beer is brought to market, then the winner will get a one-time $1000 royalty payment. (In all honesty, it sounds like it’s better to be a semi-finalist than the Grand Champion, considering the loss of rights to your beer.)

Make sure you read the rules, as there are very detailed requirements.

Not all chemicals are bad. Without chemicals such as hydrogen and oxygen, for example, there would be no way to make water, a vital ingredient in beer.
