$230,000 of Champagne
Tennis star Kim Clijsters bought a bottle of champagne for all 10,000 spectators at her second round match at WTA in Antwerp. The tab came to $230,000 (I assume that’s NZD, so 155,644 USD). She made the promise last fall that if she returned with the top ranking that she’d buy champagne for everyone. Well, she kept her word.
In fact, this isn’t the first time. She also bought a beer for every person in her hometown of Bree, which has a population of about 14,000, after winning the US Open last year.
