Beer Sorbet

Beer SorbetI’ve certainly tried beer ice cream before. Sunset Grill & Tap, for example, makes beer ice cream that’s served at Beer Advocate Beer Fests. The last one was ice cream made from a chocolate stout. However, this beer sorbet is very different.

Several Australian restaurants are making beer sorbets with flavors including apple, peach, cherry, blackberry hefeweizen, and honey ale. They look freaking good! I might have to buy an ice cream maker now, dump in beer, and see what happens. One of the chefs is even experimenting with using wort, so I wouldn’t even have to wait for the beer to brew. Unfortunately, that means there won’t be any alcoholic kick.

Wow! I the new pastry chef at a brew lounge and tomorrow I’m going to be working out a wort and beer sorbet. I figured i should poke around online first and came across this. It’s good to know there are other chefs out there thinking along the same lines.
