Beer Waste -> Artificial Sweetener

There’s tons of nasty sludge left behind after brewing beer. If you’ve ever made your own homebrew, you’ve definitely seen that nasty, thick paste at the bottom of your keg.

Well, an engineer has figured out a way to turn that nasty, thick paste into xylitol, a sugar substitute. That’s good news, considering all the noise that environmentalists have made about brewers dumping waste and the such. There’s hopefully a new way to prevent pollution.
