The Popular Double Buzz
Adam Graham at The Detroit News reports on the growing popularity of mixing energy drinks and alcohol. Many prefer the new cocktails to more traditional drinks due to the double buzz that they produce. “The vodka loosens his up and gets him tipsy, while the Red Bull charges his battery,” he says of partygoer Eugene Lewis. Also, drinks like Red Bull mix well with nearly anything. A local bar owner says, “We’re even doing cognac and Red Bull.”
Of course, some people are worried about the dangers of mixing an upper and a downer. “Tom Rifai, M.D., director of the Unasource Weight Control Center in Troy, says the combination is like playing with fire.” Of course, this is “unknown territory”, and no one really knows what problems could arise from this.
