The Pour by Eric Asimov

The Pour by Eric AsimovIt looks like major media is finally getting into the alcohol blogging business. Will I be quickly eclipsed by the great Eric Asimov of New York Times fame? Yeah, probably. Heck, his second post has 96 comments! 96 comments! How do I get 96 comments? Apparently, I need the backing of a major newspaper. (Psst! Please forward this to an editor, preferably one in Boston.)

Welcome The Pour by Eric Asimov. In case you didn’t know, he’s been the chief wine critic since June 2004. The Pour is a blog about “the pleasure of drinking wine, and beer and spirits, too”. There are only two posts thus far but with the backing of The NY Times, I’m sure there will be plenty more to come.

Asimov promises that this blog will be about drinking, not tasting. Tasting will apparently be reserved for those who read the print edition, which is a nice division. I’m excited to see what he posts, especially the non-wine material. I’m also curious as to what the blogging process is like for a gargantuan entity such as The NY Times. I imagine editors must approve of what he writes and that he spends hours proofreading his work. On the other hand, I have an unedited stream-of-consciousness brain dump that’s hopefully devoid of too many errors.

A woman drove me to drink and I didn't even have the decency to thank her.
