Pair Wine with Music
I follow alt.food.wine along with a number of different wine blogs, and usually, people talk about pairing wine with food. White wine with white meat, red with red, this with that, etc.
However, it seems that The Queen’s Hideaway in New York instead takes the approach of pairing wine with songs and albums.
What a cool idea! It totally makes sense, since wine comes in the whole rainbow of varieties, and many people already do this across the whole liquor spectrum. Why not do it within just the category of wine then?
My only problem with this is that some of the music is a bit before my time. (Have you guys yet figured out I’m fairly young? I do turn 24 this year, though…) What I’d like to see is the menu updated with hip hop and modern rock songs. For example, the Benivera Crianza Rioja described as a “power ballad” could be paired with Green Day’s “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”. I might have to make this a summer project. Heck, I might have to start always describing my drinks this way.
