Alcoholic Fruit Flies
In nearby Danvers, MA (I’m in Boston), police recently confiscated a number of liquor bottles that contained fruit flies. One establishment, Brutole Restaurant on Route 1, lost eight bottles and paid a fine of $2278.96 in lieu of an eight day suspension for the unsanitary bar.
In case you’re wondering, fruit flies don’t cause any known diseases, but it’s about the last thing I want to drink with my expensive cocktail. Besides, it indicates sanitation problems and is just gross to imagine.
