Misunderstanding Wine

To highlight the importance of buying some book, this article features a number of incorrect assumptions about different wine terms. To prevent looking like a fool, you might want to avoid thinking these things:

  • Many people think “oaked” means acorns have been used for flavoring.
  • 1 in 5 women think that “full-bodied” means fatty grapes have been used.
  • Many think “appellation” means that apples have been used in conjunction with grapes.
  • Others think that “corked” means that bits of cork are floating around in the wine.

My favorite is the second. There’s something too funny about a fatty grape. If it existed, I imagine that such a thing would taste rather nasty.
