Flasks As Decanters

Eric Asimov at The Pour tells about how he’s been using flasks as decanters. Yup, these are the ones you see in science labs. He has large Erlenmeyer and volumetric flasks. The Erlenmeyer flasks cost $16 each, and the volumetric flasks were $60 each. The former is great for young wines, and the latter is great for old wines.

This is a great idea, which I hadn’t heard of before! Lab equipment can be expensive, but wine gadgets can be even more so. Plus, it just seems like a cool geek chic way to go about decanting.
