Free Spanish Wine Guide Arrived
Adding to my ever-growing pile of reading, I finally received my free Wines From Spain guide! I originally asked for mine on Jan. 26. Two months later, it’s in my hands.
Frankly, this is an impressive freebie. While I would’ve preferred that they sent a bottle of wine instead, this will suffice. This is a thick 119 page colorful guide that’s good enough to be a book. Heck, I’ve paid for wine books that are worse than this!
Obviously, there’s a strong positive preference towards all things Spanish, and you won’t find anything that says “these years stink; don’t buy them”. I wouldn’t expect less of the Trade Commission of Spain New York. However, it has a wealth of information and should prove useful in expanding past the usual collection of American, French, and sometimes Australian wines that most people seem to have.
I tried looking up a bottle of Lan Crianza 2000 that my girlfriend received as a birthday gift. Obviously, it’s not in here. However, it does have an entry for Lan Gran Reserva 1996 with a description of the winery and tasting notes. Not bad.
