Ben & Jerry’s Black & Blue over Black & Tan

Ben & Jerry's Black & TanI previously wrote about how Ben & Jerry’s was coming out with a new Black & Tan flavor. Well, little did I know that the term is offensive in Ireland.

Black & Tans” was the nickname of a violent British militia that operated during Ireland’s war of independence in the 1920s, and the mention of the militia still arouses strong feelings.

Of course, the name of the ice cream was based on the drink of the same name, which is usually a mixture of Guinness and Bass.
