Tasting Whisk(e)y v. Tasting Wine

What do wine and whiskey have in common? Aside from the fact that both begin with the letter “w”, it seems much more than the casual drinker might realize. Tasting wine and tasting whiskey are two very similar activities.

To summarize in as few words as possible: some drink while others taste; true tasters sniff, slurp, and spit; both have complex tastes and scents; and there’s plenty to debate.

The only difference is that usually people add some water to whiskey to enhance flavor. I dare you to try doing that to someone else’s wine. The most interesting thing to me from the article is that the water should be added 30 minutes before drinking! I’m not sure I can wait that long.
