Red Wine May Prevent Deafness

My girlfriend often accuses me of being deaf. Here’s a secret: I’m just not listening. (Just kidding!)

However, in case I’m not joking, here’s a possible preventative measure: drinking red wine. Indeed, yet another study demonstrates a possible benefit to red wine consumption.

Scientists have shown that the antioxidant resveratrol in red wine helps neutralize free radicals, which damage inner ear hairs that are essential to hearing. Mind you, there’s no direct evidence that this is true, but one of the scientists says, “It certainly can’t hurt to increase the amount of green vegetables, red wine or green tea that you consume.”
