Ro15-4513

A new experimental drug called Ro15-4513 stops drunken behavior. The drug binds to and blocks specific receptors on brain neurons, preventing people from acting like drunken fools.

Researchers say that this alcohol antidote drug may lead to a keener understanding of how alcohol works, help develop drugs that prevent drunkenness, and further addiction medications and treatments. UCLA researchers even suggest that it may be possible to harness the beneficial effects of alcohol, presumably without the side effects.
