Sophisticated Boozies
First, thanks to Cocktail Jen for introducing the term “boozie” to my vocabulary.
Second, read on about being a sophisticated boozie (or sipper for consonance). Eben Klemm, who is director of cocktail development for several New York hot spots, identifies five signs that you’ve graduated from your amateur drinking days:
- You know the only drink that ends in “-tini” is a martini.
- You know the only drink that ends in “-osmo” is a cosmo.
- You think the best drinks, especially in dining, are savory drinks.
- You insist that your cocktail comes well shaken.
- You think the aviation is truly underappreciated.
All right, I still have to get through the last one. Anyone have maraschino liqueur to spare?

Count me in as a big fan of the Aviation! It is a very pretty drink even, as I plop a maraschino (I know, not the same thing) cherry in.
