Alcohol Good for Colon?
Regular and moderate alcohol consumption may protect against colorectal adenoma. A study shows that it may reduce the risk of precancerous colorectal lesions. Drinking 2-6 alcohol beverages a week in this case is considered moderate drinking, and there was no distinction made as to what study participants were drinking.
Interestingly, non-drinkers had a 40% higher risk than moderate drinkers, but those who were drinking 7 or more per week had 150% higher risk of adenoma than moderate drinkers. Just like pretty much everything else in life, too little and too much are both bad.
