Cristal Responds to Jay-Z

Remember how Jay-Z announced a boycott of Cristal due to racist comments? Well, the president of Champagne Louis Roederer, which owns the Cristal brand, has responded by saying that he “did not use this phrase and…did not imply such sentiment.” The press release continues on by saying that they appreciate “all forms of art and culture” and that it has “earned greater renown by some of today’s most recognized artists, entrepreneurs and opinion leaders.”

I’m not so sure that this press release will save their butts, though, especially since I don’t think The Economist has yet to print a retraction of the president’s original interview.

There’s no new response from Jay-Z. However, he has scrubbed his lyrics of all references to Cristal at a gig marking the 10th anniversary of his album “Reasonable Doubt”.

Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza.
