Counterfeit Alcohol in Russia
This article is definitely making me think twice about drinking booze on a future Russia trip. Fake alcohol kills 42,000 Russians every year. That’s a frighteningly high number. The problem isn’t limited to sketchy liquids you’d never want to stomach but expands to liquor sold in food shops and convenience stores.
This reminds me of previous articles about fake liquor in China. Some estimates range as high as 60% of all liquor being fake—not necessarily deadly but certainly counterfeit.
