Alaskan Beer

It never really occurred to me that Alaska has its own breweries, but if all 50 states have wineries, then having breweries isn’t at all far-fetched. “Anchorage is Alaska’s capitol for locally produced beer,” according to the article. However, even remote places like Kodiak Island, Haines, and Fox River have breweries. (Yes, I need a map, too.) Plus, there are a couple new breweries in Soldotna and Nikiski. (Again, I need a map.)

Anyway, I do plan on an Alaska trip someday, so these are getting penciled down in my future itinerary. I wonder if drunk mushing is against the law.

The Alaskan Brewing Company (http://www.alaskanbeer.com/) has been taking prized for some time. Of particular note is their Alaskan Amber. I don’t think that you need to go to Alaska for it either. I’ve seen it in some California markets.

Interesting. I just checked the FAQ, and the list a number of other states all on the west coast. However, they list a couple distributors who are willing to ship the beer elsewhere. I don’t know what the shipping laws regarding beer are, though I suspect they would be similar to those for wine.

If the headache would only precede the intoxication, alcoholism would be a virtue.
