Brainwashing for Sobriety
Scientists at Kwantlen University College in Canada performed a study that shows implanting false memories of bad experiences with alcohol affects their desire to drink.
142 people aged 18-20 were that they had a bad experience with rum based on questionnaire. They were then asked to elaborate on that experience. 30-40% of the participants became more confident that this had actually occurred. When they were then asked to rate rum, it ranked lower than before the brainwashing occurred.
I suppose this will work for some people. My very much real experiences with tequila haven’t prevented me from going back, though!
