Maine-Grown Organic Hops
After retiring from his job as a mechanic, Rick Courcy decided to move to Maine, buy 90 acres of land, and become a farmer. The only experience he had was growing potted tomatoes, but that didn’t stop him. Not knowing what to grow, he became inspired by a TV commercial for Budweiser (seriously) to grow organic hops. He hadn’t even seen hops before, and he wasn’t even a beer drinker.
Now, Paris View Farm is the only Maine-grown hops, and they’re organic to boot. Maine brewers are expressing interest in his crop, and this man could soon become a local hero. He also would like to expand into brewing his own beer in the near future.
