Allergen Labels Forthcoming on Alcohol

Just like how a bag of peanuts says “this product may contain nuts”, so will bottles of booze. In two months, the Treasury Department will make labels disclosing allergen warnings mandatory on alcohol products. The public is invited to comment on the proposal through September 25 at which point government officials will likely do whatever they want irregardless.

Personally, I think this is a great idea and that the government should just extend all food labeling requirements to include alcohol. Wouldn’t it just make more sense anyway to roll the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau into the Food and Drug Administration? I suppose that’s bureaucracy for you.
