Wine Robot
Scientists have recently developed a machine that can taste wine. Wine-bot can correctly identify unique organic components of 30 popular wines in 30 seconds. The researchers hope to use this to cut down on wine fraud, which is currently detected by human tasters and analysis of vineyards’ records.
To analyze the wine, 5 mL of wine is poured into the machine, which then fires infrared light at the wine. By identifying which wavelengths of light have been absorbed, the machine is able to recognize the wine.
With such a device, could even human taste tasters be gone soon? Goodbye, Parker?
