Havana Club Update

Pernod Ricard, which sells its own version of Havana Club in 183 countries, has announced that it will appeal the USPTO’s trademark decision. This comes after Bacardi announced that it would sell its own version of Havana Club, which is supposedly more authentic than the Pernod Ricard/Cuban version.

Considering it’s essentially Cuba v. USA in an American court, I think the USA will prevail on this one. Then again, Pernod Ricard is one powerful international company. The true winner, though, is obviously Ramon Arechabala from whom Bacardi bought the original recipe. Either way, I’m sure he makes bank.

Beer will always have a definite role in the diet of an individual and can be considered a cog in the wheel of nutritional foods.
