White Wine Healthy, Too

Please excuse the incredible slowness with which this and subsequent articles are being posted. I’m currently playing catch-up from the week spent dealing with moving stuff.

New evidence suggests that white wine may be just as healthy as red wine. The traditional thought was that the skin of the grape was what provided the antioxidant fighting powers, but it seems that grape pulp has antioxidants as well, just not the same ones. While grape skin contains anthocyanins, grape pulp contains other polyphenols.

Lab rats fed grape skin and others fed grape pulp both exhibited heart-healthy benefits after 30 days of being fed the compounds and then suffering from induced heart attacks. Of course, if you’re not a lab rat and someone isn’t inducing a heart attack in you, then this might not hold true but it sounds like a good enough excuse to order pinot grigio.
