Why the Glass Matters
Admittedly, I sometimes just grab whatever glass is nearest or cleanest to drink wine, but here’s an argument about why glass shape matters. The different wine glass shapes are made to enhance the flavors of each specific wine, so that narrow tall glass might not work quite as well as a wide, open glass for that red wine. Of course, I’m not drinking Grand Cru, but at least I won’t look too idiotic when I drink mine after reading this short guide.
Incidentally, the same theory is applicable to beer. Drink pilsner out of a pilsner glass, drink that Belgian ale out of the intended goblet, etc.
