How To Make a Jockey Box
I very excitingly received another issue of Make magazine today. As I flipped through it on the T, I found on page 119 an article about building a convertible jockey box. Unfortunately, to read the article, you must be a subscriber. For those not in the know, a jockey box is a device that goes in between a keg and a tap that cools beer as it flows through tubing. You’ll often find them at beer festivals, cooling down beer from kegs. Companies do sell ready-made jockey boxes, or you can build your own using a kit. However, the article explains how to build one on your own using parts available for much less than the $180 than that kit I just linked. Premade jockey boxes run around $100 more.
I’m still searching for a suitable web page that describes how to build your own to avoid forcing people to look at an offline article or one that costs money. However, I’m not having any luck. In the meantime, I just may build my own just so I can publish a guide online. Is anyone in need of a custom-built jockey box? I’m not so sure I would have much of a use for it once built.
