America’s Drunkest Cities

Perhaps they should add number of cocktail/beer/wine bloggers as a category for determing the drunkest city. By virtue of sites like BeerAdvocate, Boston Cocktails, and this one, Boston should be right up there! Oh, wait, we’re #4! (And there’s much more to do here than Milwaukee, the Twin Cities, and Columbus.) Boston also has some of the best bars in the country like The Publick House, Sunset Grill & Tap, and Bukowski’s Tavern. Go see Forbes’s full report.

If you read the fine print, you’ll recognize that the title of this article is misleading. The 35 cities in the study were selected on the basis of geographic diversity and availability of data. So, Boston is not the fourth drunkest city in the nation; its fourth drunkest in a sample of 35, which is still at a respectable 90th percentile. My home town of San Antone is at 12 or about the 67th percentile.

Not all chemicals are bad. Without chemicals such as hydrogen and oxygen, for example, there would be no way to make water, a vital ingredient in beer.
