Nepal’s Herbal Wine
Add this to the list of cool Nepalese booze: herbal wine. The new product, Hill Hot, is a creation of Jhalak Thapa of Pokhara, Nepal. Thapa first tasted raksi, a local alcoholic brew, at the age of ten and then learned about wine. Finally, he learned about pheni, a local booze in Goa, India and decided to make a similar product using Nepalese herbs. 15-16 different herbs along with curd, ginger, honey, and other assorted ingredients go into the herbal wine to make an interesting brew.
I doubt you’ll find it in the US anytime soon, but here’s to hoping!
