Oktoberfest!

Oktoberfest is just about here (September 16 - October 3), and well, I’m jealous of all you people partaking in the fun. I may have managed to convince a friend who’s partying in Germany for the next couple weeks to at least take pictures, though. Until then, all I can do is read about it. Oktoberfest in Boston just isn’t the same. I remember going to Oktoberfest in neighboring Cambridge two years ago; it sucked. There was no beer, no German food, and essentially no fun.

For a decent American Oktoberfest celebration (do click this link for a comprehensive list of Oktoberfests in the USA), you should head to an area with a high German-American population like, God forbid, my hometown of Fort Wayne, IN where there are actual beer tents with bratwursts and sauerkraut galore.

However, until I have travel money, the Samuel Adams Octoberfest (sic), Harpoon Octoberfest (sic), and Harvard Square Oktoberfest will have to suffice.

You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline - it helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer.
