Italian Women Sue Peroni over Ad
Like beer and chips, beer and male chauvinism form another classic combination, and a group of female Italian lawyers are suing over it. In a rather unique case, they allege sexism and discrimination against beer giant Peroni due to a commercial currently airing on TV. (Note to nonexistent Italian readers: please upload this video to YouTube, so we can watch it!)
The video shows a woman attempting to park a horse and carriage a century ago while two male Peroni beer drinkers watch and laugh. It then shows the same woman attempting to park a car while two male Peroni beer drinkers watch and laugh. In case it’s not obvious, the commercial is saying that women never could park and still can’t, so laugh at them while drinking beer.
Is it worth a lawsuit? You decide. Of course, that decision won’t weigh as much as one by an Italian court or Mafia boss.
