Wineries Make Bank with Woot
I still haven’t bought anything from wine.woot, though it certainly hasn’t been due to crappy selection. Instead, I’m just really, really cheap. Well, poor.
Anyway, you might think that the wine on Woot is on clearance or something like regular Woot products, which are often refurbished or obvious overstock. However, it seems that wineries are actually very happy to sell on Woot. For example, Pepper Bridge gained nationwide exposure and sold 1200+ bottles last week. While the wine sold at a little over half of the usual retail price, that’s a good investment for a winery with which many may not be familiar. Besides, I can only imagine what their margins on regular retail price must be.
