Red wine may benefit your cardiovascular system in yet another way: by preventing strokes. Johns Hopkins researchers found that mice fed a moderate dose of resveratrol, which is found in grape skins and seeds. The mice fed the compound suffered 40% less brain damage when the researchers then induced strokes. Researchers surmise that resveratrol may both help prevent and protect strokes in humans, too.
