Mmm…Beer! Mmm…Cheese! Mmm…Beery Cheese!
From one of the best breweries in the state and one of the best cheese manufacturers in Vermont comes the best of both worlds: Cabot Harpoon IPA Beer Cheddar. Seriously, how could it get better than this? The concoction combines the taste of Harpoon IPA with Cabot Creamery cheddar. It used to be that you had to drink beer with one hand and eat cheese with the other. Now, you can do both with one hand and leave the other free for flipping the remote!
After the blocks of cheddar are 10-30 days old, they are then soaked in Harpoon IPA for 24 hours. The cheese is then drained, packaged, and stored for 4 weeks at which point it’s shipped to grocery stores.
Unfortunately, it’s not sold conveniently at Shaw’s (I practically live next door to one), but it can be found at Trader Joe’s and Market Basket all across MA. Of course, you can find it at other stores all over the Midwest, East Coast, and New England, too. Just check the list. There’s little chance of my not picking this up the next time I’m at Trader Joe’s, which should be soon as my girlfriend is running low on edamame.
