Collaborative Wine Becomes Reality

Cellar Rat Pinot 2.0Crushpad has created a new wine, Pinot 2.0, via online collaboration at The Cellar Rat Wine Blog. Rat Pack wine enthusiasts contributed to Alan Baker’s online forum to make a Pinot Noir with the whole process documented via the blog. Baker claims that it’s the first ever wine made in this manner. Pinot 2.0 will be ready in August 2007.

Crushpad itself is a novel method of winemaking, allowing customers to make custom wine by the barrel for $5000-$12,000, which is about $17-$40 per bottle. In reality, that actually isn’t too expensive, though you’ll of course put a hell of a lot more effort into creating a wine than picking one out at your local package store.
