People’s Vodka for the Masses

In 2005, more than 40,000 Russians died after drinking fake vodka, and considering the spate of recent deaths resulting in a state of emergency, this danger hasn’t yet diminished.

Now, leaders are proposing the creation of a “people’s vodka” or “social vodka” (either way, this sounds Communist) that would help bring genuine, safe vodka to the masses. The vodka would come in plain bottles and would neither be so crappy as to turn off consumers nor be so good as to take business away from luxury brands.

This movement comes after the government finally realized that stamping out drinking is impossible. It seems that some politicians finally consulted their history books.
