Days That End in Y

In time for the new year, I’ve made a large number of changes to the site (and will continue to do so). Here’s a quick overview:

• New design! If you’re reading this via RSS or Atom, then do click through and take a look! I’m hoping that the design looks better and is more compatible. The IE 7 (Microsoft is truly the bane of the web developer’s existence) update broke my previous design, and I was getting sick of it anyway.
• Store: I’ve begun categorizing stuff that I like or have featured on the site in an Amazon store. I appreciate any purchases you make from Amazon via the store, as those purchases help support this site. The store’s not quite “done”, but I’m ready for you to take a look.
• The name has changed! It’s subtle, but you may have noticed that I’ve begun referring to this site as “Days That End in Y” without the quotation marks around the “Y”. Why? The quotes break too much software out there. Although they’re valid, there are simply too many sites out there that don’t parse them correctly. Oftentimes, my site shows up as Days That End in \”Y\”, Days That End in "Y", or simply not at all, so I gave up on good grammar and thousands of programmers realizing their bugs and just changed the title instead.
• Permalinks have been updated to use more explicit text. Old permalinks (the ones that look like entry.php?entry=123) will still work, but the new ones are around for your benefit.
• Sponsors! I’m looking for sponsors! This site has taken a tremendous amount of time and energy to create, and I’m constantly putting more effort into it. Please consider buying some advertising. There are numerous options ranging from pixel ads to banner ads. And to all of my readers, I promise I will never accept intrusive advertising (e.g., pop-ups or those incredibly annoying video ads that take over the entire page). Also, I will never sneak advertising into my entries. I’ve already turned down potential sponsors for requiring that I not disclose sponsorship, and I will continue to do so.
• New additions to the blogroll! My apologies to those new blogs for not listing you explicitly. I’m starting to lose track of when I added sites. As such, please visit my fellow bloggers, as there are some great drinking blogs out there!

Even more features should be online by the end of the year (or hopefully soon thereafter—it depends on my extremely variable schedule)! My intention was never to have just a blog but a site with tons of stuff all related to drinking on it. The blog will always be the central focus, but there should be more fun and useful stuff shortly!
