137-Year-Old Beer Tastes “Absolutely Amazing”
250 bottles of 1869 Ratcliff Ale were found in Worthington’s White Shield brewery, and the beer tastes “absolutely amazing”. The bottle-conditioned 137-year-old beer’s 10% ABV kept it in good condition, and the beer tastes of raisins and sultanas, baked apple and honey. The beer is “bright and luminous like an ancient Amontillado sherry and has a meaty character like smoked partridge with hints of molasses”.
The bottles will not be sold but will be viewable at Museum of Brewing at Coors Visitor Centre in Burton.
Who knew that beer could keep that incredibly well?
