Sparklies Aren’t Just Champagne

It’s almost New Year’s, and it’s high time you went shopping for champagne! However, it doesn’t have to be Champagne (with a capital C). There are plenty of alternatives that taste great and can at least help that poor budget. Oregon Live has some great suggestions including Limoux (French non-Champagne champagne), prosecco (the Italian treat perfect for Bellinis), cava (Spanish sparkling wine), and American sparkling wine (which I think is unfairly maligned in the article). Only the snobbiest snob could possibly turn his nose up to any of those choices.

Anyway, there are plenty of ideas out there. In fact, you could even try beer like geuze, which tastes remarkably similar to champagne and is made with the same method.
