Note to Self: Never Play Beer Pong Again

E. coli

Beer pong? Try bacteria pong.

The next time you’re entered into a beer pong tournament, think twice (or maybe thrice since you’re probably drunk), because you could very well end up with a nasty infection.

Two student scientists, Ben Morrissey and Aaron Heffner, at George Washington University uncovered a plethora of nasty bacteria during a night of beer pong. Do you really want to get salmonella, E. coli, or pneumonia at that frat party? Then again, I think pretty much everyone realizes this and simply doesn’t care. Then, there are those times when you simply cave into peer pressure, which reminds me that I have recent photos of myself sucking liquor from a nasty ice luge.

Anyway, CBS Sportsline, my usual source for science reporting, has an amusing interview with the young scientists during which they cover topics ranging from the scientific setup to how strip beer pong would affect the results.
