Rep. Hynes Wants MA Colleges Dry

Massachusetts Rep. Frank Hynes has introduced a bill that would ban alcohol from state university campuses—not even faculty and staff would be allowed to drink. Laughable as it may seem, he’s dead serious, though he realizes that the chances of it being passed are rather slim.

What I don’t get is why he’s wasting time and money on this. If you want to prevent underage students from drinking, then simply enforce the current law. A new one isn’t going to make any difference. Do they really think that college students aren’t going to drink anyway? You could bring in the Gestapo, and college students would still be chugging away. Do something more useful like allowing me to buy wine when I go shopping for groceries.

The bill doesn’t appear to have a number yet, so the text of it is unavailable. However, it’s been filed as docket 59 on Feb. 15.

I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.
