This past weekend saw the introduction of whiskey from the rebuilt distillery on the grounds of Mount Vernon. American whiskey makers wore period dress and used Washington’s original recipe to make rye whiskey, which will be sold in a gift shop.
Experts laud the whiskey. Rob Allanson, editor of Whisky Magazine says, “It’s got good mouth feel. It’s very zingy on the tongue…It’s got the potential to be a good rye drinker’s rye.”
