Orbit Mint Mojito

Gum: the new gateway drug
Credit: Wikipedia
I’m not much of a gum chewer since my jaw just gets tired. As a result, I hadn’t heard of Orbit’s new mint mojito flavor, which some people really love. The flavor combines spearmint with lime but unfortunately lacks rum.
What’s really interesting about it, though, is the controversy surrounding the gum. Some believe that the new flavor is being marketed towards children to turn them into alcoholics. The Marin Institute’s spokesman says, “It’s something I’d call mildly reprehensible, and it’ll almost certainly lead to others going further. It’s sad they need to name it like an alcoholic beverage to sell it.”
Dear Mr. Marin Institute spokesman,
- There are bigger alcoholism-related issues out there.
- That’s the dumbest thing I ever heard.

You’ve got to be kidding?! These people really get paid for spewing this crap?! If a child has genetic tendancies toward alcoholism; parents pay no attention to the child or the child’s social habits; and/or peer-pressure. Children must feel a sense of self-worth and dignity and this begins at home. I remember when they linked flame-retardant PJs to CANCER?!
