Rum Trivia

The Edmonton Journal recently published some interesting rum-related trivia. The two factoids that are my favorites:

  • The word “rum” likely comes from “rumbullion”, which means noise and/or uproar. Before rum was known as rum, it was known as “Kill-Devil”.
  • “Rum, sodomy, and the lash” are known as the three abiding traditions of the British Navy. I’ll just take the first. Thanks.

And here’s one recipe with rum to beat the heat. Perhaps I’ll venture out to Shaw’s to pick up some pineapple juice.

I exercise strong self control. I never drink anything stronger than gin before breakfast.
