Thanks to Darcy’s initiative, I’m now a member of the Spirits & Cocktails Hive at BlogAds. Blogging has never been about getting rich, but we would all appreciate any support that you’d like to give. And in exchange, you can get some quality ad space on our blogs!

Due to my laziness (everything seems to hark back this), I was a little late to get in on the press release, but I’m happy to post it now sans my name:

Spirit and Cocktail Advertising Co-op

Top cocktail and spirit bloggers join forces to create a advertising co-op for the food and beverage industry.

In the past few years the revival of the cocktail has rippled around the world. The popularity has been helped along by shows like “Sex in the City” and events like Tales of the Cocktail, in New Orleans. There have also been a great number of websites advocating great cocktails using a chef-like approach to their drink creations. A significant part of the cocktail renaissance is being driven by a group of dedicated cocktail and spirit bloggers. These bloggers have made intelligent cocktail discussions a reality and created a community of like minded individuals wanting to learn about this intriguing culinary art form.

Because of the rapid growth, and increase competition, in the beverage industry over the last few years, many companies are looking for better ways to connect with their customers. Participation in Internet communities has been shown to be a great way of staying connected to their customers, and has had significant success in the technology industry.

To facilitate the inclusion of food and beverage companies into the growing community, a group of bloggers, has created the Spirits and Cocktail advertising “Hive”, through BlogAds, that allows companies to purchase premium ad space on the participating sites. The initial group of sites includes; The Art of Drink, Jeffery Morgenthaler, The Liquid Muse, Cocktail Chronicles, A Dash of Bitters, Cocktail Nerd and Kaiser Penguin. Together these blogs represent the best the web has to offer in modern cocktail creation and spirit reviews. They are written by bartenders, cocktail enthusiasts, restaurant / bar owners and industry experts. In the future additional sites will be added.

This advertising co-op offers participating companies approximately 50,000, highly target, ad impressions per week, from people who are keenly interested in their product. The readers of these blogs are people who are looking for quality products for use in cocktail creation. They have an interesting in learning about new liquors, bar tools, techniques, books and related beverages.

Industry participation helps to support the bloggers who provide a valuable service to the industry by promoting responsible consumption of alcoholic drinks by focusing on quality instead of quantity. The statement; “Drink Better, Not More” is the attitude these bloggers believe and promote.
